Destin Choice Route, known by the stage name JID, is an American rapper and singer. He began releasing music in 2012 and signed to J Cole’s Dreamville Records in 2017.
His music began to attract attention from rap fans with his first independent projects. These include Route of Evil (2012), Para Tu (2013), and DiCaprio (2015). All of which received critical acclaim.
He released his first hip hop album under J Cole’s label. His second studio album, titled DiCaprio 2, came out in 2018. It gained 698,091,610 streams on Spotify. The record gained positive reviews and kickstarted JID’s Catch Me If You Can tour, which consisted of two legs starting in 2019.
Popular Collaborations
JID has been a part of some incredibly successful collaborations. The artist was featured on the song “Options” by Doja Cat for her Grammy-nominated album Planet Her in 2021. Later the same year, he collaborated with Imagine Dragons on the song “Enemy” for the hit Netflix Series Arcane.
The song hit number five on the Billboard Hot 100. It has 1.8 billion streams on Spotify. This is JID’s highest charting song to date. In 2024, Eminem invited the rapper onto his track “Fuel” from his twelfth studio album as well.
2025 Album
On August 8, 2025, JID released his fourth album called God Does Like Ugly. The album features Don Toliver, Ciara, Ty Dolla Sign, and more. The album has fun tracks that reflect the style of Lil Wayne. It shows what modern rap is all about.
